Documenting your work can be simpler than you think! During this workshop we will discuss tools and techniques to create images to highlight your work, products, or business in the best way possible. During the first half of the workshop we will cover using a smartphone, editing apps, and various apparatus ranging from simple to complex to create strong images. During the second half of the workshop we will work together to create some images of your work, discuss setting up your own documentation studio at home, and offer feedback on images. 

Participants need to bring a smartphone to the workshop.

This two-part workshop is designed to help artists, makers, craftspeople, and small businesses to feel more confident, capable, and excited about promoting their work on social media. Social media can be confusing, overwhelming, and time consuming. The key to success is to make a social media marketing plan that fits in your schedule, targets the right audiences, and is FUN.

Our morning session will cover the following topics:

• Digital Marketing Basics

• How Storytelling Enhances Marketing

• How to Develop a Social Media Strategy

• Special social media strategies for creatives and small businesses

Our afternoon session will focus on:

• Canva Basics

• How to Create Facebook and Instagram Reels

• Meta Business Suite Basics

In the afternoon we will be exploring Canva, Facebook, and Instagram live. Feel free to bring your phone or tablet so you can actually practice creating graphics and videos, as well as explore Facebook Business Page tools.

Participants must have access to a smartphone and laptop/tablet.

This workshop is designed to provide participants with the fundamental skills needed to build and edit their own professional website using the Squarespace platform. Over the course of two days, participants will gain hands-on experience and guidance in creating a live, fully functional 2-page website. This website will reflect their brand and/or art practice, and can be easily expanded upon in the future.

Day 1: During this interactive session, participants will learn how to shape their website's story by understanding their unique purpose, target audience, and desired outcomes. We’ll guide them through a series of exercises and discussions to help clarify their brand identity or personal vision.

Day 2: The second day focuses on enhancing the website's functionality and preparing it for launch. Participants will learn how to refine their website's design, optimize for search engines, and integrate essential features.

Participants must bring the following:

• Images of your work and/or a headshot are welcome but if you don’t have anything ahead of the workshop, we can work on that together on day 1. 

• A credit card for Squarespace plan* and a custom domain name**. 

• Laptop, tablet or smartphone is optional.

* A Squarespace personal website subscription costs $192 yearly or $16/mo. Everyone will receive a 20% discount on the first purchase - so if you decide to purchase a whole year, you’ll save about $38 and pay $153.60 for the first year. If you decide to pay monthly, you’ll only get the discount on that first month.

** Domain names are typically $14 - $20 a year.
